Thanks to you all from new member

I am a new member to the a/s site, but have accessed many VITAL points after buying my 2000 astro awd last month. As my handle indicates, I was mad, but now glad I got it. What a pain the the arsh to deal with a van when I am normally used to wrenching cars like '64 Ford Galaxie, 1970 Olds 98, etc. My last daily driver was a 2000 Buick Lesabre; great dependable car with great mileage. When I bought my astro, I filled it up (wow!) and thought I would have plenty of gas to get home, a trip of some 300 miles. Uh, I guess I should have done more research on the fuel "economy" of the astros! The person I bought it from said "new brakes, radiator, blah, blah, blah. When I checked it carefully, I knew I would be replacing many of these "new" parts. So after being mad at the guy, and spending 2 days changing out the water pump, radiator, brakes, PLUGS!, wires, cap and rotor, the van ran smooth like a baby's bottom. OOPS!, now the p420 code came, and had to get new cat con! Oh, well, nothing like new parts to increase one's confidence in the vehicle. I was hoping for an improvement in the mileage, but alas, I could do no better than the EPA stats. I am hauling about 600 pounds of equipment on it, and get an average of 12.1 (mostly city) as indicated on the "avg. economy" setting on the display. Rolling down the road at 60, I get 19-20 on the instant read on the display. I was hoping for more, but considering the weight and profile of my astro, what can I say. I now have accepted the shortcomings of my "baby" and am glad I got it. I really needed a work vehicle to haul my junk around in. MANY THANKS for the help I got from previous posts that helped me to service the newest member of the family!
