Chefred112, I agree, sweet rig. What are running for your rear drop? I have read that there are problems towing with a lowered Van unless you run Timbren's.

thanks Jim...nothing really major done to it... I've got a 2/4 drop (spindles, flipkit), runnin staggered 17's (225/50 fronts, 255/50's rear) with bag assists to help with stance and towing. running a catback exhaust (dualed after muffler), an hkc dual filtered intake...did run a jet chip but I think it screwd with the pcm so i removed it. Also have a subtle rear spoiler (not too gaudy but goes well with the lines of the van)... I use to be into audio and I ran a deck with an amp and 2 10" subs...now, I'm more laid back and just run a new deck with new dook speakers (no subs, needed the space back)...

Timbren is a Product name. It is an aeon rubber product that replaces your factory bump stops. It comes in two flavors a 2000lb & a 6000lb set. When your van is loaded, it sits on them much like your air bag system. Some prefer it's maintenance free aspect. Others do not. Hope this helps, Jim

They only recommend the 6000lb set for vehicles that always have a load like a work Van or what not. Thats what they told me on the phone at least. :D

I was a member here 4 or 5 years ago and got discouraged when alot of my long winded posts
with pics and part numbers disappeared in one of the numerous old issues with the board.
still driving my sexy little astro, and it has proved to be the best vehicle I have ever owned by far. (pic attached)
thanks for being an awesome resource of info!
because of astro safari I have known what was happening with my van before it happened.

thanks!
and sorry on the size of the cartoon... it was bigger than I thought it was.
I think it was cp0ff before, but I had some issues signing in several times and made another.

my baby needs some work these days, just like I need some work (a job) haha
but is still the steadiest beast I could have hoped for.

it was a pool company van and they had spilled some powdered chlorine inside
(thus my choice of the "corrosive" avatar)
so that "slider" which has no track left to slide in.. has been begging for a gullwing-ing
but dogs and home improvement materials are about the only thing I typically haul around these days
and I would almost be afraid that doing that might constitute some kind of entry into
the steddy-mos-G competitions that seem to be battled-out daily back and forth
between the younger homies in this god forsaken hood, so Im just sticking with no side access for now. haha

Alright boys and girls, my name is Tony I stumbled upon this site though a search.
i live in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

I wanted an Astro or Safari before but they seem to sell like hotcakes around here when they are under a couple of grand, or you get a rusty POS.

Well searched and searched lucked out to find a 99 Safari original owner with factory heavy duty tow package, great shape, ran mint, got it for a steal...........then some lady was nice enough to write it off for me by running a stop sign. :screaming: :banghead:
