Please review my parts list for +4" lift parts, look good?

I am looking into getting my 95 AWD Safari lifted 4 inches. If I bought the +3" coilsprings for the front and the +4" leaf spring and hanger kit for the rear How do I get the additional 1" of lift up front to make it 4"? Is this done by cranking the torsion bars, adding modified torsion bar keys or is there other parts that would need to be ordered? I want lift in the suspension only and do not want to install any body lifting pucks etc. What I am seeing that I would need from http://www.overlandvans.com is listed below. Am I missing anything?

Rancho RS5000/4 shocks
+4" HD spring pack ML9506-LS687HD
Standard Hanger Kit ML8595-GMSH
Shock relocation brackets ML-8506-SK-ReLoc
High lift torsion keys L-9006-HL KEYS

With this setup, would I get the 2degree or the 4degree pinon shims? Am I missing something or have I listed something that I won't need?

Yeah I've been under there before. I've replaced the fuel pump, front&rear OEM shocks, complete exhaust, all new fuel lines, all new brake lines, brakes & rotors. I know a few things about cars and trucks but i have never installed a lift so I need some advice. Can you give me any? The coils are in the front.

Well maybe I have completely lost my mind here but I seem to recall a front driveshaft and coil springs with the shocks going right up the center of the coil springs. Hmmm. Maybe I'll get a quick photo of it.

OK so I had temporarily lost my mind, So without any more name calling I'll simply cross the coils off the list and maybe you guys could share with me how to achieve 4" of lift in the front end of my AWD van.

2" lift blocks & crank the torsion bars up. Can also get the torsion keys (which will give you more lift then the stock keys) from overlandvans.com or the new place that took over that place is called: http://www.boondoxmotorsports.com/astro_liftkits.html

Then shackles + better leafsprings out back will give you the 4" needed out back.

I think there is a budget lift through them for about $370 plus shipping + you need the front bumper relocation brackets.

Find out if you have the short or long torsion bars on your Van. The long ones are well long and stick out of their mounting place pointing towards the back of the Van. The differnce is 41" and I think 36" on the bars. The short bars are the good ones that don't give out. In mid '95 they changed them over to the short ones. A prevous owner could have changed them out too.

Not being a AWD guy I have to go back and review the Overlands system.As I thought it is a combination of a body lift and cranking up the torsion bars/keys.Don't let the body lift part of that scare you either.They are at the lift level easy to do.All you do is loosen the body mount bolts and remove the body mounts one side at a time for the lift mounts.It is easy to do.The rear end is that same thing.A combination for the springs and shackles.I suggest you want to stick with a company like Overlands who has a long history of successful lift kits like they offer.If you have any other questions before you order,email Gerald.Might take sometime because as busy as he is,to get back to you,but he will.Better yet,call him.

Anything else I can do to help,just post.Looking forward to the lift thread on your build with pixs.

If it has the longer torsion bars, would you say it'd be safe to crank them up if they were new replacement units or are the new bars also known for breaking? I don't mind spending the money on my van to have the safest setup that I can have in a lifted van. Here's a few pics though not very good ones.

I would spend the money on getting the short bars...........if they were replaced most likely they would have been replaced with the shorter ones. My old '92 had the newer shorter ones on it by the time I got it. I usually heard of them just giving out while the Vans are parked......my old '92 gave out on the owner over night while it was sitting.

I've had days and weeks like this HAHAHA, I'm glad it was still as simple as crossing it off the list.

I cut one of my torsion bars in half bc I couldnt get the key out and the other end was stuck in the lower control arm. It was nothing a BFH, PB Blaste,r and a torch couldn't handle once I had the crossmember and the lower control arm out of the van.

Thanks for the reply. Etters is between Harrisburg and York along I-83. After shoveling out the snow in my driveway and my mothers driveway I had got to thinking about putting a snow plow on the front of this van just to do our driveways in the winter and was thinking that there may not be sufficient ground clearance for a plow mount hence the suspension lift kit Idea. After reading around this site I'm thinking maybe just get a truck instead of dumping a bunch more money into a 95 Safari. Nice van by the way.
