have a rusted peice which runs under the transmission bracket.
it is about three feet long with two rods that run to the front suspension.
could someone let me know what this is called and steer me to any replacement info?

The two long rods are your suspension (torsion bars) used on the AWD vehicles. The transmission crossmember is what sounds like is rusted, this holds up the transmission, and has a transmission mount which connects the transmission to the cross member.

You will need to get an unloading tool to unload the bars, you can rent/borrow them for free from a LAPS (oreillys, autozone, etc.). You should also get a new transmission mount since you will need to take that of to get to the crossmember, might as well replace as that rubber will be 15+ years old.
