I wish, mine is running around grille-less. I ended up using epoxy and cloth to re-inforce it when I still had a grille.

You really don't need to take the subframe out to do that engine swap in a 1st gen. You will have enough access to do your spring cleaning with the subframe still attached. But hey, if you want to remove it, that's your choice. :2:

Yeah actually if the the front unbolts behind the radiator like mine did ('87) you dont absolutely have to unbolt the subframe to do the swap but because of how much more room ya get by doing so and how easy it was i did it anyway...you only have 6 large bolts and thats about it, I didnt undo the brake lines but i did unhook the steering yoke and the shift linkage and that give me about 4"-5" of additional clearance=TON OF ROOM...Its probably the easiest swap ive done out of about 4-5 v-8 swaps... (1)grille and headlight bezels (2)all radiator lines(trans coolant & H2O) (3) take off fan belt and fan (4) remove radiator and if u have a/c the condensor *have the A/C lines bled properly...not like i did (5)take loose the ground post behind driver headlight-this will help move the large wiring loom down and out of the way for eng. removal...(6)unhook fuel lines---depending on year and engine=tbi & carb models wont have too much pressure so you can just unhook em...(7) unhook exhaust from manifolds USE LOTS OF PENETRATING OIL (8)on this one i chose to unbolt the electronics/ECM goodies from intake manifold leaving the vacuum hoses and plugs intact, tie them up off to the side (9)undo the throttle and tv cables (10)unbolt the inspection cover and unbolt the torque converter (11) support with a jack and a 2X6(on trans pan) the transmission then take out all bellhousing bolts (12)and since you hopefully unhooked battery unhook & unbolt the starter...(13) and if engine hoist is in place you can unbolt and remove the 2 motormounts...use hoist to just take weight off mounts not actually pull on engine (14) most importantly is the good ole double and triple check to make sure nothing is connecting engine to body or frame :dunce: ALSO---IF YOU CHOSE NOT TO UNBOLT THE SUBFRAME ITS WAAAY EASIER TO GET THE FRONT OF THE VAN LIFTED UP A BIT WHICH GIVES YOU EASIER ACCESS WITH HOIST...I USED THOSE CAR RAMPS TO PARK THE VAN ON AND THIS GIVE ME MORE WORKING ROOM UNDER VAN AND ALSO BETTER ELEVATION FOR HOIST TO GET IN THERE... if you dont lift the van when you try to stick the hoist onto engine the end of the boom/hoist will hit the firewall possibly damaging your wiper motor... Im not sure if that was the kind of input you needed but thats my :2: take it or leave it ...Ill see if i still have any decent pics of removing the V-6... P.S. If i missed anything im sure someone else will chime in or ill remember and repost
