What kinda HP can I expect

What kinda HP can I expect

Postby Bertscova [OP] » September 21st 2009, 9:17pm

I rebuilt a 1994 K1500 vin k 5.7, used the 4.3 TBI unit with the stock 5.7 injectors, converted it to a roller cam,
stock bottom end other than the cam
Here are the cam spec's
The GM part # is 14097395 duration at lash point in degrees (intake/exhaust) is 288/308; duration at .050"
tappet lift (intake/exhaust) is 196/206; and maximum lift with 1.5:1 rocker ratio (intake/exhaust) is 431/451.
Valve lash is zero/zero and lobe centerline is 109 degrees

But I'm using 1.6 roller tip rockers

the heads are rebuilt stock with a set of good springs, I believe 194/150

exhaust
a set of those headers recomended for the engine swap.
2.5" pipe to the y then 3" single from y to a 40 series flowmaster single 3" in to dual 2.5 out
with 2.5" tail pipe out the rear.
Can someone give me a rough idea as to the HP i will have on this setup.

As a guess I would say 250-300 if there are some TBI mods done, probably splitting the difference. I would put a TPI or other high pressure fuel pump in the tank b/c you will probably need to put the fuel pressure past 15 PSI to get there which is where the stock pump maxes at. The heads will probably hold you back and eventually the TBI instake will as well.

I put a new Bosch fuel pump in with a fuel pressure rating of 26psi But it only hold 15psi at the TB. Is there a fuel pressure reg between the tank and the TB unit.

The fuel psi regulator is on your throttle body , i just bought a adjustable regulator that replaces it , i should've bought a external one instead because its kinda hard to adjust when its on your throttle body!
