possible engine buy

I found a 68 327 complete minus heads and intake it turns over by hand for 75 bucks, I always wanted to build a 327 just because its a cool engine. If I buy it I plan on building it with the old 350 hp cam and vortec heads. I will post again after I talk to the seller tomorrow. If I do buy it , I will put it on my engine stand take a few pictures and it will sit while I finish my other van projects. Mark

Buy it. Even if the bores are toasted it's still desirable to a restorer. Or, find a 283 crank & build yourself a Chev 302!
Lotsa ideas but first you need to go pick it up.

Check out the block too.

The 3970010 casting blocks are nice ones especially.if they have the extra 010 and 020 under the timing cover.
Those.markings make it an extra tin and nickel.block.

Nothing super.fancy but they are a little.better of a block

IMO... anything smaller than a 350 really isn't worth the effort.
But I'll make an exception for a cool performance 327!

lol @ DRZ I now have a video camera to document the taking apart of anything.
By the way I have rebuilt 9 engines over the years one of which ran 3 seasons in a friends stock car in super modified class and won many times in those 3 years.

I had a 327 once... in a 69 Chevelle. Ran it pretty hard till a rod came out the side of the block.

Here are 2 of my previous van engines... a 400 and a 502.
Currently, the 350 (in my Astro) is the smallest engine I own.

Here's an old video of both of them (in my 74 van)... the supercharged 400 might wind up in my Astro.

I decided not to buy another engine , I am gonna buy the parts to completely rebuild my 350 instead. Now my question is this: My 350 is a 91/92 engine it has the basic set up for a roller cam but came with a flat tappet cam from the factory. what do I need from a salvage yard to swap it to a roller cam? I read an article stating the parts needed are reusable from a roller cammed engine but I can't find the article. Thanks Mark
