PCV Grommet That Goes in the Valve Cover

PCV Grommet That Goes in the Valve Cover

Postby lightbluetoy [OP] » August 22nd 2016, 5:01am

For a 2000 Astro. I replaced my pcv but the new one went in kind of loose and made me uncomfortable.

People in two different LAPS were of no help and I can't find it on rockauto. The dorman website only brings up the pcv elbow and this thing: http://www.dormanproducts.com/p-34503-4 ... origin=YMM

I can only find one for a 1995 and it seems like it is different. Am i making this harder than it needs to be? thanks

Have you thought of Junk Yards - the Later models would be tighter, I would think.

Never heard anyone mention a "Loose PCV Grommet". But that does not mean it could not happen.

They get old, worn, and hard, then they don't seal properly.

If you can find a newer '04 van in a pick-a-part yard they are usually in fairly good condition if the van is low mileage. I'm always grabbing little things like that. Mine was the same way, all loose and hard.

This last time I was fixing the lower IM gaskets I took the time to replace the valve cover gaskets, and the oil filler grommet and the PVC grommet/valve. What ever I did actually fixed my crank seal oil leak  Apparently my PVC systems was not pulling enough vacuum and keeping the oil behind the seal. I'm so happy I have a dry motor now. Just pressure washed it off and for the first time in many many years...no drips on my driveway.
