Aftermarket oil cooler

My LAPS is located on a barrier island and gets a lot of commercial boat traffic. They have a Parker

fittings setup, and the machinery to produce virtually any hydraulic hose assy also. Seems that they

do a fair amount of filters and such for the marine trade too. It ain't just wallpaper and paint !

I can't figure how they expect me to install their adapter. All I can see is tap out the existing adapter for the 1/2" barbs supplied.

That is the same one I used. It is all there. Your not showing the metal adapters that hold it on, there are 3 of them.

The part the oil filter screws onto. On the existing adapter has a allen fitting inside. It screws out and into the block. Barbed fittings screw into the new adapter. The brass tube looking deals with the threaded ends. One of them fits the oil filter on the van. Put the O ring on and it screws to the part you put into the block. Through the new adapter and holds it on. Now the barbs for the lines and the rest is straight forward.

Yes and the new one is held on to the oil filter screw when it is in the block.
The bolts that held on the old one are no longer used.

This part comes out and screws into the block.

Gotcha. An adapter screwed into the block with another adapter screwed on it covered with the adapter plate. Why didn't they say so in the first place.

You will notice in the hot summer months. Oil pressure don't go down near as much when the engine is hot. Like getting off the freeway in 100 degree heat with the air on. Oil definitely likes being cooler.

Well hell one of the lines came off the barbed fitting at the oil filter adapter today. Dumped all the oil, smelled the burning oil on the exhaust as I was turning into the driveway. At first I thought maybe I hadn't tightened the clamps enough, but after cleanup, repositioning the clamp I saw the perfect indentation of a properly torqued hose clamp.

This can't happen again. Not sure if I damaged the engine, heard no warning sounds like dry lifters or the like. I sprayed down the undercarriage with purple power and hosed it all off tomorrow I'll drop it off the jacks after doubling up on clamps at the barbed fittings at the filter adapter. I have get some knuckle type fittings and a higher quality oil line and redo it. Kinda suprising, the oil line that came with the Hayden trans cooler I installed 12 years ago had zero issues, I did change the rubber lines when I recently installed this Hayden oil cooler.
