Could be code P0101 related with distributor cap condition??

CEL remained on after a lot of time coming on and off.
My chevy VAN 2005, 60.000 miles, started with a CEL being on and off, after 45.000.
When CEL camed on, after three times the engines was started, the CEL came off.
I replaced the O2 sensors, and the MAF sensor, but the result was worse.
CEL camed on and the engine runnned very rough when the van reached the 60 to 80 MPH.
I reinstall the old MAF and engine runs beatufull but CEL cames on sometimes, with the same
condition described.
Last week, the CEL remained on.
Code P0101 agin is showed. MAF sensor looks ok. We cleaned up and engine runs soft.
We checked the distributor cap and rotor. Both were durty, We cleaned them up and run the engine
and CEL is off.
Would you so kind and clarify to me what is the relation between MAF and distributor cap/rotor.
