Engine stumble & temp gauge spike with moderate throttle

Engine stumbles with moderate throttle, and when that happens temp gauge momentarily spikes and quickly returns to normal.

Runs fine cruising, and if I'm very gentle with throttle engine stumble and temp gauge spike dont occur.

I'm thinking perhaps as the engine responds to throttle, it moves enough due to torque that its lifting a ground and causing the
engine stumble and the temporary spike of temp gauge ( which is very quick up and down )


Was going to add some braid to ground engine to chassis in a couple spots and see if that helps.


any other thoughts as to possible cause / fix would be greatly appreciated.

More likely the "spike" is from an intermittent temp sender connection that is cause by the engine stumbling and shaking. Either that or your batt/ign power is intermittent somewhere.

Quite possible, have you checked your engine mounts?

Maybe have a helper watch the gauge while you gently move the wiring around, see if you can find the fault.

Very good, I'll have to keep that in mind that I cant be sure what is cause and what is effect.

Excellent, these replies are getting me thinking about how to approach this issue.

Hopefully get it resolved next week.

... not sure what shape motor mounts are in, but they're added to my list.
