Check engine light

Check engine light

Postby Wurmpool [OP] » August 6th 2019, 3:05am

Its a 94 astro. use to drive it about an hour back and forth to work. When the van gets good and hot. If you turn it off. When you turn it back on. For some reason the check engine light comes on. And it idles funny. Still runs and everything just fine. But it only does it when it’s good and hot. If you turn it off and leave it sitting a while. Turn it back on and it runs perfectly. Any ideas what would cause this?

Post says 94 Astro, your profile says 97.... either way you are going to have to read the code and post it before anyone can help. If it is a 94, you have OBD1 and need to search for the procedure here to read the codes (simple, paper clip and a scrap of paper) if it is a 97, that is OBD2 and you will have to either buy a code reader, or go to your local auto parts store and ask them to read it for you.

Good luck.
