Best way to drain coolant?

Well... finally my water pump is on it's way out on my van. I have the new pump ready to be
installed. But not to thrilled about changing it at all. Seems like it's going to be a pain in the
butt LOL. So what's the best or easiest way to drain the coolant, the drain cock or by removing
the lower rad hose? Also would it be better to have the van up on low ramps while doing this job?
Or any other tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.

Using the drain cock is the environmentally friendly way. Trying to catch all the coolant.
That said a pan under the van to catch it. See I trying to be politically correct.
I would unhook the hose to at the water pump and bend it down. It would be empty real quick. You have to take it off anyway.

i pull the rad resivior and pull the bottom hose clamp. Then i watch it drain down my drive into the local water supply.

Thanks for the input guys. Still would like to know if it's easier with the van up on ramps?
Or if it's possible to reach the drain cock without having the van raised?

I do it with out ramps.

Well... I finally got the pump changed! It took me 6 hours to do it, after fighting with the clutch fan, the
pump pulley etc. Sure hope I don't have to do that again for awhile LOL!
