1986 astro stalls at high speeds

Hello everyone,

I need help with my van, this morning as I was on y way to work,I noticed that my van started loosing power as if it was gonna die on me on the highway,it then started to stall as if it was not able to shift to the next gear but it was already in the last gear.

I checked the transmition fluid, and it's ok.....any Ideas??

Sounds like it was mis-firing? :think:

I would start with the basics like checking fuel pressure and that you have good blue spark from the coil.
Change fuel filter for **** and giggles. Visually inspect the wires, rotor, and cap too.
Does it seem to start fine and idle as it always has?
CEL or Check engine light on?

I've got an 89 and it started missing. Almost seemed like it was dropping out of gear. I did some searching in this forum and replaced the ignition coil, rotor and distributor cap as suggested and that fixed the problem.

changed coil and fuel filter, and forgot to check the cables.....and guess what was the problem???...yep the spark plug cables.
