**NEW FuelPump~Better Gas Mileage?????**

**NEW FuelPump~Better Gas Mileage?????**

Postby kramerhd [OP] » August 2nd 2012, 1:53pm

I just had to replace the fuel pump(Myself), Only took me and my son about Hour and half. Not bad time I think.
~But to my question~

It seems so far (350 miles) that i'm getting better MPG? Does that seem right?

My old fuel pump hummed it own song, And now the NEW one is as quiet as silence. Sadly I miss the hum of the old one. But am happy to know Ive got a new one now.

Yeah its possible to get better MPG, I think. Because if it wasn't building the right pressure or something then it would have to work more and use more fuel to keep it running. :2:

Of course it could. If the new pump is delivering the proper amount of fuel VOLUME as well as pressure, then your engine will operate more efficiently. I'm actually debating replacing my pump for the same reasons. I started to have a couple of minor nagging problems shortly after my pump started to whine a bit, and since my gas gauge fluctuates about wildly, it would be nice to get an accurate gauge again.
A temporary fix usually becomes a permanent solution, therefore it does not exist.

MY fuel pump had been whining for about 30,000 miles. And then finally gave out at 3 o'clock in the morning on my way home from work ON THE FREEWAY!!!

Now it's SUPER quiet, and I'm very happy. Plus was easy as hell to replace!!

I'm going to have to replace my pump soon. The braces or supports for the tank are so badly rusted, we can't drop it like your suppose to, there is a hole in the floor to access it. The van has gone through like 3 fuel pumps so far. I'm just going to buy one of those expensive ones now, like AC Delco.
