EGR blockoff vs throttle body clean

So I was about to do the egr blockoff job, til I saw this vid. My question is, how do the 2 relate to each other. I already cleaned the throttle body inlet butterfly but is the idle air control valve performing the same function as the egr?

I know this is a vague question but if anyone can help before I dig in that would be great.

A little late but better than no answer.

IAC valve meters air into the intake tract gas is added to compensate.
Strictly controlled by the rpm of the engine. Computer sees it is idling to low it opens the IAC and adds gas. Same thing as giving it a little throttle.

EGR adds burn't exhaust into the intake tract. In a feeble attempt to lower NOX emissions. Reburn exhaust making it cleaner.
But it has no oxygen and is 1600 degrees.
How is gas going to burn without oxygen?
More emissions and less power.

And talk about cold air intakes, predetonation out the wazoo.
This only works at a idle. Under part throttle it makes emissions worse.

The rocket scientist powers to be finally pulled their heads untill they heard the loud pop. Thats why newest models don't have them anymore. Didn't work then and it don't work now. But emission standards being what they are. The idiots said you got to have them if they came with them.
