Put CPI intake off my old engine on TBI engine ofsame year??

Ok, I have a 1994 Vortec CPI engine and I'm looking for a new one because it spun a bearing(or just has a bad bearing).

I have been searching for engines and I find that the TBI ones are way more abundant and better priced than the CPI.

Can I buy a 1994 TBI Engine for my 1994 van and swap out my still good intake from the CPI eliminating the need to change wiring or CPU? Aren't Vortec heads different?

Any suggestions? I'll shell out the extra $$$ if I have to for a CPI, but I'm hoping for good news so I can research in one particular direction.

your right , vortec heads are different then TBI heads . Vortec heads have 8 bolts holding on the intake and TBI heads have 12 bolts holding on the intake.

So did they make a Vortec engine in 1994 ? I thought they started putting Vortecs in in 1996 and later.

All of the 4.3s have Vortec heads. The Vortec branding started in 1992 with the CPI motor - it's an advertising ploy.

As far as the intake swap, I'm afraid I don't know. However, some answers might be here:

You can always just swap the blocks and reuse your intake and heads.

Thanks. I picked up the donor engine today and the heads are already off.
I guess it's time to get to work.
