05 Astro PCV, doesn't have one?

Did you happen to try it both ways?

I tried it both ways and honestly didn't notice much difference.

That being said.. my vacuum lines were about crumbled before... So who knows.

Id like to think it needs an O-Ring to do its job. Otherwise air will simply flow around it IMO.

Happy to be convinced otherwise, but I think o ring is in order here.

I didn’t even have a PCV valve under the cover. Weird. Was yours in there when you first checked? Maybe there isn’t one on Gen 3’s? I didn’t see it in the parts diagram- only the cover.

Hrm.. maybe we aren't supposed to have a PCV then... I didn't have one either when opening that up.

It seems weird that the part fits perfectly in there... I just assumed it was a mistake from the PO.

I did some reading -- there are some people on GM truck forums that say GM did away we PCVs in 2004. Perhaps this is why our valve covers are different and the plenum is also different.

Well -- I'm going to pull it out and see if my engine is any happier. Perhaps this is making my engine stumble now.. since I haven't driven it with new vaccuum lines w/o the PCV valve!

I think CopperFireMist has a 2004 on his rack... we can ask him to check too.

I’m leaning to agree with others at the beginning of this thread- don’t think anything is installed under the PCV cover on gen 3’s. It’s weird that all the parts databases say there is a PCV valve. The diagrams I’ve seen don’t show anything under the cover and the metal nipple installed on the driver valve cover has a fixed orifice.

Yup -- I'm with you. I'm going to pull mine out and drive it around.

CopperFireMist is going to check the 04 on his rack too.

So damn strange that the valve fits perfectly in there... seems like if they were to get rid of it they'd just get rid of it and not make the old part fit perfectly!

So strange. Probably some part they needed for another vehicle that they just used on astrofari's to save some bucks in redesign.

Still so strange... Especially when even my owners manual states the PCV valve part number as a maintenance item.

I will say.. it seems like my van is happier at idle without the valve in there...

Haha yea. Glad I went down that road... Don't forget the passenger side valve cover hose either if you're doing vacuum on this year. There is another PCV related item there!
