tps replacement

tps replacement

Postby bscoffey [OP] » December 19th 2009, 10:56pm

i replaced my tps because the voltage was low , now my gas mileage really stinks. it was 12-13 now its 10 mpg. it did get rid of the misfire at WOT. Noe it feels like i have a misfire at part throttle. Volage readings are fine just cant understand why my mileage went down. No codes are comming up . it does feel like its going into lock up too soon ,dont know if that is a problem or not. Also i have a shift issue ,when it shifts from 2ond to 3rd its like it has to think about it for a second. then it shifts hard. does it hot or cold ,wet or dry. its getting where its hard to start sometime in the morning. what kind of trouble will i get in if i swap in a v 8?

If you don't mind me asking, what was your reference voltage? What was your voltage at closed throttle? What was the voltage at wot? Did the voltage move smoothly from closed throttle to wot? Have you tested your coolant temp sensor yet?

CTS is next on the menu. The closed votage was .531 it kind jumped around a little as i opened it up and the WOT was 4.23 . The tps that came out had no spring back on it like the new one did. It (the old one) had a slight rattle and movement in it where the throttle shaft goes into it. if it wasent bad it was lazy . I'm tired of this government controled ,communistic engine mangement system. If I could I'd rip all of it out ,drop a v-8 in throw a carb on it ,duals and keep on truckin. But as it stands i gotta keep spending cash, that i dont have, on this thing .If they want us to keep the emissions the way they want it maybe they can share in the expenses. Sorry about that ,been outta work and money is tight.

What was your reference voltage? And voltage should climb smoothly from closed to wot as you move throttle smoothly from closed to wot. It should not jump erratically.(I think I spelled that correctly)
