Swapping vortec 4.3 into a non vortec 4.3 engine bay

Postby akforceten [OP] » September 7th 2014, 5:03am

Ok I have acquired a 1995 GMC safari awd van with a bad motor. I also acquired a 1996 vortec 4.3 L motor in good shape.it has 185-190 compression an oil psi was 30 to 70.i got the harness an computer with trans . since the 95 is non vortec van i need to figure out how to mate the 96 harness to the 95 van so the search is on for wiring diagrams i guess

Wow you sure like doing things the hard way. 95 is a vortec 1st design.
If the 95 had block problems and not head issues. Easiest solution is put the 95 heads and intake on the 96 block and just put it in.

To wire the van for the 96 engine you need the wiring and computer. And as a added bonus your transmission will no longer work. You would need a 96 trans.

Well i have made progress in making a stand alone harness. I have gotten all battery power leads figured out an the keyed on ignition power sources so the fuse block that is under the hood has complete power. The next task is to test it an see if everything will start an run.
