Need advice where to buy an engine or to rebuild

Need advice where to buy an engine or to rebuild

Postby JoeJITSU [OP] » April 2nd 2015, 7:42am

So my wife's van is stuck at one of the casinos here in Vegas that we just did a shoot for.

It was bogging everytime she was hitting the gas on the way over there, We will have it towed tomorrow for sure.

Checked the oil and it had some strong fuel smell on it, We originally bought it at 70k mile and religiously put synthetic oil every 3k miles. The van now has 199,978 miles on it, I was looking forward to the 200k for sure. It still has power but after always smelling coolant and gas every once in a while from inside the van and for it to have that many miles on it, I think that she is due for an engine. I just need some advice where I can buy an engine just in case my local shop says that the motor is shot.

Used or new could be fine. When people say crate engine, I am assuming that it is a brand new engine?

By the way it is this van here

Umm, have the current engine looked at first. Jumping to the conclusion "it needs a new motor" before having it checked out is not the thing to do. A couple of hundred spent on maintenance is a lot cheaper then a couple grand on an engine.
And, if you trust your shop, they will be able to get an engine for you. if you call around to your local junkyards and get some prices at least you will be able to talk with some knowledge about cost.

Serious fuel in oil? Fuel pressure regulator problems?

There are 4.3L engines EVERYWHERE.

Or you can get a long block and add parts on. Paying someone to do it will be more money than the van is worth.
How many sensors, fuses or computers does a Bw4472 need? Zero.
