Tank to filter fuel line

Tank to filter fuel line

Postby hdtrc [OP] » April 21st 2015, 5:38pm

I recently needed to drop my tank to swap out my ruptured brake line and in the processed had a hard time getting the plastic fuel hoses uncoupled from the steel fuel lines.
I have no trouble depressing the clips but it's just that the steel lines rusted some and that rust prevents the clips from fully depressing. I had to deal with the clips at the sending unit and you know where that is and how hard it is to get your hand in there.

Since the brake line ruptured and the tank is out I figured I'd replace the steel fuel lines. GM was about $90 for one of the lines. I found a nice set of lines for $135 from Cananda.

I could have just cut the plastic line and replaced that. GM wants a lot for them too. There is this option http://www.linestogo.com/nylon-line-repair-kit-2000-2003-this-kit-will-attach-to-your-existing-nylon-line-and-the-new-connector-will-attach-to-the-new-fuel-line-3069-01/
But since the steel lines were rusting and were going to rust further not less as time went on, I bit the bullet and paid the $135.
