Justin,

As a fellow owner of a Gen 2.5. I can tell you that my 05 Astro does not have an EGR Valve.

What kind of issues are you having?

Thanks, Jim

pretty rough idle, sounds like a miss but no misfire codes. a little hesitation on acceleration and sometimes, the hesitation is so bad that it takes a couple of seconds of complete bogging to get going. I'm really just picking at straws. Runs perfect at driving speeds, just at idle is the problem.

How long has it been since you replaced the distributor cap and rotor? Your symptoms are common when they go bad , sometimes it is vents clogged on the distrib housing , and could be signs of a camshaft sensor weakening , mine went bad and it did not immediately throw a code , it finally did after a couple months , read this tech bulletin from GM about dist vents clogged, If you replace the cap & rotor be sure to use high quality parts , the cheap ones fail in a few months or less, brass terminals preferred.

Actually I replaced them in the past couple thousand miles but I never saw those vents. Maybe they were so clogged they blended in. Ill take a look tomorrow. I suppose they're required to be clean.for correct operation? Thanks for the help.
Edit: that tab says 01-03 models. Maybe they fixed it with my 04?

Ok, I took the screens out today, and I didn't realize they were that small. They were both clean but the inside of the cap had dust and dirt all in it. The contact posts on the cap had very mild white corrosion that I could wipe off with my finger, and were good and round. I put it all back and it didn't sound any different. I'll have to wait until the motor cools down to really tell, probably in the morning. True cold starts are the worst.

OT: can't wait to hear how that fuel system cleaner worked out for you astroturf

Justin,

The GM Part Number is... 88861011.

I would go out and buy 2 bottles now while it is still available. 3 if you absolutely want to kill it.

Smooth, Smooth, Smooth idle.

I'm Lovin It.
