Brake upgrade

Brake upgrade

Postby trapper20 [OP] » March 19th 2012, 12:11am

I am looking to upgrade my brakes as I need more stopping power for the large tires. I am on a tight budget, so rear disc or 11" drums, etc are not an option. What is the best way of going for an AWD? I am thinking slotted rotors and a performance semi-metallic pad. Are cross-drilled and slotted rotors better, or are the vans too heavy and do they run a risk of cracking cross-drilled rotors?

Try using search for brakes. A couple people just upgraded to heavier truck brakes. Within the last year.

How much are the drilled/sloted rotors? I would think the 11inch brake upgrade would be cheaper. Not saying it is but some of the rotors are usually pricy

Once you go slotted, you wallet get's flat. My kid did EBC slotted rotors and pads in his Ranger. He said the thing will launch you through the windshield, but I think the rotors were $250 or so each.

THEY ARE SITTING ON THE FLOOR DAG NAMMIT! The HID and LED lights are taking up all the bench space.

I suggest 3500 series calipers with 3.15" bore, the heavy duty ones. Core charge is $40 on those! I'm not sure how much bigger they are, you should already have 1500 sized calipers. I've been too lazy to pull the wheel and compare.

Best way to stop faster is to loose some of the chit you're haulin'.

EDIT: Oh, and the 11" upgrade costs roughly $600 if you can manage to find all the parts new. I had a hell of a time. That chit is extinct.
