2000 safari awd

Postby Spacetruckin [OP] » May 24th 2021, 8:24pm

Just picked up this van, finding when I make a complete stop and let off the brakes the van doesn't creep forward like a typical automatic, previous owner said he did new pads and calipers, what could be causing that? Just nervous that the brakes are not letting off completely and i don't wanna eat thru pads/be fighting the brakes to drive??

Get it to a small incline in neutral ,if it aint moving you may have draging brakes ,clogues brake hoses ,e brake not releasing completely , also try and drive it slow for a bit and not use the brakes ,then carfuly touch the wheel, discs etc , dont burn your self , see if any of the wheels are hot compare to the other wheels , so if you have sticky brakes the wheel that does will be warm/hot compare to the others , you may also jack the van and manualy turn the wheels ,brake smell is also a way to know something s up .

If the brakes are sticking... the wheels will be extra hot.

If you know brakes, get in there and make sure
the caliper pins are lubed with silicone grease.
The PO may not have known completely what he was doing.
If you don't know brakes, take it into somewhere
like Les Schwab that'll do a free brake assessment.
Let them know the situation so they'll check thoroughly.
Stopping is more important than going.
