Top bolt on the hub - how do you get access?

Top bolt on the hub - how do you get access?

Postby bunce1260 [OP] » September 6th 2015, 8:46pm

I can't get a socket securely on to that top bolt, let alone worrying about torqueing it or heating it. How do I get at it?

(Questions about torqueing and heating it to follow.)

I don't remember having that problem when I replaced mine. Longer/shorter socket, extension, etc?

The other shot - I was looking at how to get the bolts undone in case I need to put a new hub on. I can get the socket on, but no clearance to get anything else on their.

I jacked up the suspension to try and change some angles but the whole van seemed to raise ???

Sorry, this stupid chromebook flips the photo 90 degrees anticlockwise despite everything being normal on my miniscule hard drive.

So I'm guessing "Hub" is some kind of Gen II component.

Seems well in hand. By your leave, sir.

Mine were from the front, but I wound up taking the whole knuckle off with hub attached after popping the ball joints, caliper, and tie rod end. I removed the axle nut (and washer! I got everything back together and noticed a big heavy washer. Whoops.) first, and once the other stuff was disconnected, the whole thing slid off the half shaft. Careful with the abs sensor wire!

I used a shallow socket with a swivel and an extension.

Or a swivel socket can't remember.
