PROPER P/S Pump Install and Bleeding Instructions

PROPER P/S Pump Install and Bleeding Instructions

Postby swharris [OP] » May 10th 2013, 6:38pm

So I put in a new pump recently and had some severe problems with lack of assist at idle and loss of braking at speed. Needless to say I was a bit bummed after finding it not working after all my hard work and time.

I did a lot of searching here and found others having the same issues, but NO one was posting that they had found a solution. Someone had posted that a performance P/S company out of TX called AGR made performance pumps for our application. Upon searching their site I came across two great procedural write ups for a pump into housing install and a very COMPLETE AND PROPER bleeding write up that is even more complete and helpful than the factory procedure.

Hope this helps someone else who is/was struggling like I was/am :banghead: . Good luck!

Thanks for the link, did it solve your problem or do you think you got a bad pump?

SOLVED....so far. Haha.

Seriously though, I think most people just do not do a complete and through bleeding of the system. I also think that purging the hydroboost is very important. You must do that in conjunction with the standard procedure. Were you the one I was emailing? If so, I really appreciate it.

I've finally got a van that steers, stops, does not leak or miss....for now ;-) I was close to 5 gal of gas and a match at one point.
