Postby tex star detail [OP] » January 15th 2011, 11:41pm

Went for Donuts Monday, stopped at a dealership I do work for and ended up purchasing a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. It's a like a siler/blue pearl. Just the base model, nothing fancy. The Fiance will be driving it mainly to replace her 2004 Sentra, which is up for sale. I will post pics of it later when I snap a few pics.
Friday, I picked up a 1993 S10, single cab, 5 speed, 2.8...... It needs some cosmetic work, but rides and drives like a dream. 110,xxx original miles. I missed my 91 Sonoma so much... I wasnted to but it back but couldnt find the guy I sold it to....

Pics later on tonight....

Yes, I still have my Asto Van. It's my work van and would never think of getting rid of it!

I still miss my 87 S10 EL. I sold it to my neighbor who was supposed to let me know when he was done with it. He gave it to his dad. Last I knew, his dad gave it to someone else. I had PLANS for that truck!

Congrats on your new arrivals!

I bought the S10 on short notice. Actually, the MS. bought it for me since she won't give up the keys to the Sonata.
It was tagged in the back end or the previous owner backed into something, as the rear drivers side frame rail is tweaked a tad.
It runs great though! Just need to get things here and there for it. It will be a SLOOOOOOW process. Wedding comes first, that's what the Ms. said.

The Sonata looks real sharp! Bet she loves it and you got BIG bonus points with her, eh? The S-10 looks great too. I had a '92 2.8L 5-speed, except mine had less paint. Great thing is, you're covered if you need to move dirt or furniture, van & pickup combo for the win! And in the evenings you go out on the town in the fancy new Sonata. Woo hoo!

So, did either one come with sprinkles?

Plans for the S10 are as follows: (now this will be over the time period of a year at least due to a wedding coming up)
Maintenance stuff first
-Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, PCV valve, fuel filter, bleed brake fluid, change pwr steering fluid, check brakes (has a pulse).
-Oil/Filter and air filter changed already
-Shocks on all four corners
-Check suspension for worn out parts, feel like it's pulling to the right pretty good.
-New wheels and tires. Would like 17" Soft 8's in chrome, but in all reality, will probably get some 15 inch rally wheels with white letter tires.
-Tinted windows, a must in TX. nuff said
-Body work over time. Needs partial rockers on both sides. Needs passenger door. Needs inner fender on drivers side. Needs a complete bed. I may bite the bullet and get a drivers side door too. SHould be able to get all the body parts I need for ~$200.
-Frame rail is tweaked on drivers side. Will not let a bumper bolt up to it, sooooo, I need to have that checked out to see if it tweaked my leaf spring.... May be the casue of the pulling to the right? If the alignment is good on the back end, screw the frame rail and I am going to go the roll pan route for sure.
-Clean up the frame when the bed is pulled off. Little rusty. I want to grind and use POR-15 (or something similar to it) I just HATE rust.
-Clear tail lights if I can find them, like the ones I picked up for the Astro.
- Drop it. Nothing too extreme, maybe a 2/4" drop, maybe 3/5" at most.
-Prime the whole thing. I want paint, but I know it's costly, so that may be a last step in the build.
-A new head unit, as the CD player in it sucks, but it works for now.
-New Grille

So that is my wishful thinking list. I know it will take time, but it will get done.

Here is a pic of my last S10/Sonoma:

I can see why you miss it - that was CLEAN! What did it have under the hood? Was it a 5-speed too?

If my S-10 had looked like that, I'd probably still have it and not know of this site! I loved my S-10 and got rid of it only because the body mount locations were rusting away, along with various other parts too.
