Am I the youngest member here?

Postby ccookie66 [OP] » May 21st 2012, 5:36am

I had a random thought...am I the youngest member here? I am 16 by the way, and it seems like everyone here is at least 20. Hmmmm :geek:

Probably! I'm 23 and wouldn't have exactly thought to have a van when I was 16.

The funny thing is my van would have had more use back in my high school days. Used to hang out with a lot of people and drive them around. Would have been nice to have a big van to drive everyone around in instead of a Dodge Neon with a small backseat

Learning to keep an older vehicle running is a great education for a young person. Not only do you learn about all the different systems in a vehicle (science and engineering), you learn a lot about personal finance, economics and people. It's nice to see a young person excited by the possibilities.

On the other hand, there are kids like this.

Yeah it's really fun to drive the Astro compaired to driving the Ford Windstar! Even if the Astro is two years older than I am, it's a great car/truck/van.

Then we have at least two who are 16 years old, then we have to know in which month you are born.

I remember trying to find info on my car when I was 16. You either had to call someones uncle or something, or go to a local garage and hope they may give you some info.

Back when it was catalog shopping for parts. That's scary, I built my last hot rod before the internet, or as we know it now. Thumbing through Jegs, Summit and a few other parts catalogs, then using a land line to call in my order because about the only people that had cell phones were drug dealers

When I bought my first car a 69 Pontiac GTO convertible, then the price on gasoline was about 1 SEK (13cent/liter) here in Sweden. Now it's 15 SEK/liter, or about $8/gallon.

Does it really matter? What's important is asking questions, and learning what you're getting into before you get into it. You're asking good questions without repetition. You're getting good advice and seem to be listening to it. That's more than can be said for MANY posters I've seen on more than just this one message board.

Youth & inexperience does NOT equal stupid. That burns me up when I see people treat young people like they're idiots just based on their age. Just keep asking, learning and absorbing. You'll be fine.

BTW- I'm over 20 too. Way over.
