I love my safari, but...

I love my safari, but...

Postby offroad safari [OP] » December 20th 2009, 5:45pm

I love my safari, but driving this was the most fun i've ever had with my clothes on. After almost 7 months i finally found a picture of me driving this beast in Harrisburg, PA. It's a 2009 KME Force series ARFF (Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting) 4x4, they also build 6x6s, and 8x8s. If i remember correctly its powered by a 700HP CAT C19, this thing hauls a$$. I just thought all of you motorheads would get a kick out of this.

Can you control the water nozzle from the cab in that bad boy. Does it have the spike nozzle so you can drive the spray head right into the side of the plane.

If you have to ask how much... I'd guess that one of those things has to cost somewhere in the high 6 figures.

But I didn't know that vehicles like that could move fast. It seems like a monster like that moves slow and it creeps along the surface of the runway. But I guess you would want something fast if there was a runway accident where minutes.. even seconds matter for the first responders.

I talked with some people at the factory, and depending on the options a 4x4 runs $800,000 range +- 100k... i forgot to ask about acceleration numbers but it moves and i was cruising about 70mph and wasn't even pushing it.
