Why do people insist on breaking things....

Why do people insist on breaking things....

Postby tex star detail [OP] » September 22nd 2010, 3:08pm

Went to the junkyard the other day and found a near mint (2nd GEN)"deluxe" grille. It was on a 1st Gen Asto that someone had installed. The turn signal lenses and the corners next to the headlights were yellowed out like crazy, but the headlights were just about perfect. Decided to come back the next day and bring tools to get the grille and lights....
When I arrived there, someone had busted up the grille. It looks like they grabbed the front end and just yanked it off. Totally destroyed it. I was so pissed. :banghead:
I said screw the headlights......

It was like that some months back too. I found a MINT windowless sliding door. Of course, no tools. Went back 2 days later and someone had murdered it. The door was locked so you had to unlock it from the inside. I guess someone wasn't smart enough and decided to (attempt to) PRY the door open with a crowbar or something. There was NO saving that door at all..........

Believe me, there are many nincompoops out there who think the JY is playground for vandalism.
Here in Sweden you are not allowed to enter the junkyard, you buy over the counter or online.

most yards are no enter here in central IL also

not just in sweden.

lol.

we dont have pick and pull here, except maybe around the big cities

but i am not near these locations out here in corn field no where land

a few years ago and before, you used to be able to enter and pull parts yourself

but not anymore.

they have to keep inventory of any part coming from a vehicle and enter into database etc,

its getting pretty crazy these days with this stuff hmmmmmm

What I find is that the junkyards around here care very little about anything cosmetic except for commonly replaced body panels such as fenders, hoods, bumpers, etc. Other than that, they really don't care about anything else that isn't a power train related part.

So they might tear up a grill in order to get to a radiator or rip up a mint condition dash to get the heater core...not to mention how they generally toss cars around with no regard for other trim items that unnecessarily get broken.
