Anyone on 235/85/R16?

Anyone on 235/85/R16?

Postby jimi_lee [OP] » October 17th 2020, 12:49am

Hey, Sorry if this has already been beaten to death.

My tires got slashed up, either forest roads or our local roads, not sure which is worse. So time for some new shoes!

Toyo Open Country AT3s come in LT in 225/75/R16 (29.3" diameter) and 235/85/R16 (29.9" diameter). Has anyone run one of these sizes on a stock (no-lift) van? Is there clearance?

Will be tire shopping tomorrow!

I too would like to know. I am running the JOR 5" lift with a set of 245/70R16s highway tires. Seems I have about a 1/2" of room between tire and subframe. The 235/85R16 are close to 2" taller but 1/2" narrow.

https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc?ti ... -235-85r16

I would prefer to run the taller tires, but am not wanting failed science project, whereby the bigger tires won't work.

I know some have run 235/85R16's, but it's unclear to me if they have a 5" lift or taller lift.

He must have meant 235/75/16

The new member AlpineVan just posted that he put 29" tires on his stock van and had to make mods, so you will definitely have to.

Right, I did mean 235/75/16. Which, without a lift, is a definite no.

To follow up: LT225/75 do fit on the van. Again, no lift. Minimal cutting in the usual areas (https://www.journeysoffroad.com/how-to- ... nings.html, This link shows photos for 31" tires with a 5" lift, but is the same I needed for the 29.2").
