How to go from a stock 215/75r15 tire(left) to a 31x1050r15(right)

To get it to fit on this OLV lifted van:

You need these.

You get this:

Obviously, there is more to this than just that, We used a jigsaw to cut the bumper, and some of the cladding away, but I did have to take a sledgehammer to a little bit of the inner fender well, and a metal cut off blade, you have to relief cut and bend the tack weld seam over so it is not running parallel with the van.

See, I do, do some of the work on my van, it is not all Jasen... It is just hard to take pics and do the work at the same time...

Relief cuts in seam, bent over.

Relief cuts in seam, some of bottom tab cut off.

0304141930.jpg
Using Jasen's girlfriends* hammer to bend the tabs in. (*Not really Jasen's girlfriends, as Jasen is happily married, just had to give him some stink about having such a small hammer)

Those cuts on the seam worked well, but there was still not enough room for full turn without rub yet, so I had to take a sledgehammer to the inner part of the fenders to make it fully work. Was not able to take anymore pics as we were on a time crunch at that point as it was already past 9pm and I have neighbors who I am sure do not want to hear the loud banging of a sledgehammer on sheet metal past 9. Plus had to remove some more of that tab(where you see the screw hole for the old bracket)

Finished?....... NEVER!

I'll let you know that hammer is 1 full pound of 'merian STEEL, made by Stanley tools, a true 'merican company.

Had a little bit of rubbing on the drivers side up front, so banged that back a little bit more with a BFH.
Drivers-rub.jpg

(You can see where the primer got rubbed off a bit. Banged it back, re-primed then installed items below.
screws.jpg

Picked up some cheap plastic mud flaps from O'reillys(LAPS) for 6$
Also picked up some screws(from Lowe's Hardware Store - 5$) to install the modified mud flaps, and re-secure down the mud skirts on the inside because the lower holes no longer matched the holes in the frames.
mud flaps cut to fit.jpg

Then Jasen and I cut them down to make them fit the curve and fastened them in to keep the debris from flying up in to the door well areas.
mudflaps2.jpg

As you can note in the picture above, I get a little bit of inner frame rub on the tires(nice shiney spot) on the passenger side.

My '97 2wd? LT 235/75 x 15 on the front and 31 x 10.50 with tall springs on the back.

@SB, you should feel privileged to use that hammer, when you grow up and get old enough maybe we'll let you buy one...

If I could justify the cost I'd get one of those 10oz. magnesiums.

Doing concrete construction kills hammers....(I don't do concrete anymore)

Now I carry a hammer similar to this in my van at all times...

My hammer was handed down to me from my great-great grandfather. It's had three heads and four handles and it's still hammering good as new.
