HELP ON MY WHEELS?!

HELP ON MY WHEELS?!

Postby Sam Stirrup [OP] » June 9th 2014, 11:59pm

Hi there,

I am Sam; I'm from the UK and currently drive a 1989 Mk2 Golf.

I have come here today, asking about some wheels:

Image
I have been told they're from a Chevy Astro/GMC Safari.

Could anyone confirm this?

They're 5x127.5 with an ET 8.

Has anyone else also got a picture of the centre caps that are meant to be on the wheels?

Thanks

Sam

Those are from a Chevy Blazer/GMC Jimmy/Oldsmobile Bravada.

They will not fit on an Astro/Safari. They are 5 x 4.75, where the Astro is 5 x 5.

My Bravada is below:

Those don't look like the S10/Bravada wheels to me, they look like aftermarket wheels... If they are indeed 5x127, it wouldn't surprise me if they were on an Astro - a lot of conversion vans in the 80's used rims of similar styles.... The center caps were most likely plain, or had a small logo in them - the logo of the wheel manufacturer..... It can be very difficult to find caps for those old aftermarket wheels as there were so many and styles changed often... Plus they had different methods of attaching the cap....

You might scrutinize the inside of the rim carefully and see if there is a logo or brand stamped into it, but unless it's a high end wheel, that's not super-likely....

I know this wasn't super helpful, but maybe someone has seen these exact wheels and can ID them....

Isn't 5 on 5 the same as 5 on 127mm?

Hi guys,

Thanks for the all the replies!

The only stamping on the wheels was something like 'AR', thus I though initially thought they were American Racing wheels or something, but literally nothing else on the wheel at all! I will double check to confirm this!

Cheers

most likely an old American Racing rim. Center caps are going to be something you may have to contact AR at [email protected]
A temporary fix usually becomes a permanent solution, therefore it does not exist.
