Firestone Destination LE2s

Postby swl91 [OP] » November 9th 2014, 10:37pm

Who has them or ran them on their van? I bought these to replace my old Bfg long trail t/a and wanted to see how good they are. (tire rack had good reviews and were cheaper). I got them in 235/70s as were my old bfgs since the factory 235/65 isn't around anymore.

I have them on my '02 and love them. Have never slipped in snow, not even 2'. I have LEs on my '99 and love them, too.

235/70 LE's on our 98. Quite happy with them, silent, don't seem to be wearing at all, great in wet weather and on dirt roads, highway, towing, etc.

Only thing I'm not impressed with is snow traction. Then again, I'm used to snow tires.

Then you want Destination AT I got those on my durango. And they are "Da Man" in the snow. Much more aggressive side tread. I do not get stuck. Fairly quiet for off road looking tires.

Put a set on my 03 Safari. I went with the stock size, 215/70/16. The best way to describe the LE2's are Quiet and Smooth. Great tires...........

I'll still take dedicated snow tires over anything else for on-road snow conditions. All seasons, all terrains, mudders, etc, simply can't match them, and rubber compound is a huge part of that.

My Toyo ATs do well in snow, but are pizza cutters (235-85) and having 2400-2500 lbs in the bed of my truck helps (2wd plow truck with 275 gallons of "brine").

Thanks for the comments! I have to say they are very quiet and ride a lot smoother than the bfgs did. As for snow I am hoping they do alright this winter but im not going to test my luck with them unless I have too.

I've been running the Firestone Destination LE2s on my 2WD '95 5-speed for almost three years now, and they've held up well for year 'round driving here in WI. Winter/snow traction is good when new, and they are a good compromise when you have or want to use an all-season tire instead of dedicated winter tires.

That's good info Casey.

On a separate note, you're running around Milwaukee with a '95 5-speed. Any chance of seeing that van?
