Rims and tires

Rims and tires

Postby daytonboi [OP] » November 18th 2010, 10:38pm

Looking into some new rims and tires...here are the two rims i've narrowed it down to..

Now the tires are a little harder for me...I want something cheap (no more than $110 each), but new, that will hold up pretty decently.
I got a couple in mind...
BF Goodrich Radial T/A

BFGoodrich® Long Trail T/A® Tour

What do you think?

And while your here another quick ? what damage can be done running a different size tire on one side? I had a tire go bad and I had a spare its a 235/70r15 but whats on there is 235/75r15. Is that too big a difference or can i run it until i can get my new set next week.

if you have posi traction in axle in question it will burn up the posi unit. But if you have open differential it wont hurt a thing it will just handle a little goofy till you get it fixed

The BFGoodrich® Long Trail T/A® Tour is a really good tire , much better than the radial T/A , I prefer Michelin , but the Long trail Touring is a very good tire

It is not a good thing to have a different size on opposite sides , it throws off suspension geometry , and handling is affected and the adverse wear on parts , It is ok for short term though if you have a flat tire, but the 235/70 and the 235/75 are very close , a week of city driving should be ok ,

Thanks for the answers guys. I wanted something that looked good on the van and well after much badgering from my worrysome mother ended up buying some Michelin X Radial LT2s. The price worked out close to where i wanted it so i guess i'm happy. Now to see about the wheels.
