So i am getting really pissed off by people on craigslist that list things for sale. this is about the 4th time in the last 2 months that i have emailed someone on an item said i would take it, have them tell me to come get it, then i ask for directions and they say it is sold. WTF? people. This time it was a listing for a couple transmissions a 350 and a 700r4 i emailed them (no phone number) and asked what was wrong with the 700 and they wrote me back that it needs a torque converter and maybe some freshining up and they just want it out of their garage so they would sell it to me for $35 bucks. so i said great i will take it what is your address. they write back that they live in springfield and i wrote back asking for directions and what a good time to come get it would be. so 5 hours later i get an email saying it is sold. WTF do people not understand that i can drive over there right now and pick something up? or how about emailing me back and saying hey this other guy offered me more money for it do you want to counter the offer? NOPE!! i wanted to pick one up cheap and rebuild it so i dont have any down time in my daily driver van. plus i work at a dealership right next to the transmission guy and he would love to help me. so now its off to search some more. i did however find a 350 chevy engine that i will be picking up this week hopefully unless that ahole decides to sell it out from under me too.

people on craigslist are uh yeah something else. I have seats out of astro but different years and mine is a conversion. well the seats just didnt swap bases and go in so I got mad. well i had some other seats that were just here and since i was mad I just wanted the other ones gone. didnt know anything bout them just that if i needed seats i would jump on some free ones. well i had every kinda of idiot driving me nuts about them and i said i didnt know anything xcept that they were in good shape. well sorry to kinda jump away but i will throw stuff away before i try to post on craigslist.

Craiglist has always reminded me of a swap meet. Everyone would try and haggle me on the price. Regardless of my starting price, they would offer half. The one time I asked for double what I would normal sell an item for, I got an offer for a quarter of the price.

I ussually price stuff for about 20-25% more then i want for the item and then in the price give them a hint that they can talk me down , for example if i had a set of wheels that i wanted around $180 i would tell them i want $225 make me a offer . then i expect to get some people offering under $180 and some really lowballin you , i just ignore them and dont email them back and i just wait it out and sooner or later somebody that really wants or needs them jumps on it .
You just got to expect the low offers and also expect that many times the people turn out to be flakes , what does it matter as long as you dont let any of them waste your time ? In your Add put all the info they would need so they dont have to ask you alot of questions so you dont end up emailing back and forth wasting time .
Another thing is make your add with lots of pictures by uploading the pictures to a site like image shack , that way you can get html code of the pictures and then copy and paste the html code and the text of your add into like a wordpad document and then save it on your computer and then in a month if the item dont sale you go to craigslist and make a new add but this time and from now on it will only take you about 2 minutes to post the same add because you just copy and paste the html code and text into the new add ! With Patience you will sale everything and wont have nothing left .
IMO : i would just throw away anything that you would sale for less then $25 , it aint worth your time unless its something you know some body will want for sure

How about the people that try to get you to trade for something and everything they have is crap!
I had a 30" Dell PC monitor that was very nice but i decided to buy a projector to replace it , i put my monitor on craigslist for $950 ( i originally paid $1300 ) i probally would've took $800 at the lowest , I got a few lowball offers , i ignored them all , then about four months later a guy offerd me about $650 , i ignored his offer and did'nt reply , then he emailed me again and asked me why i did'nt reply , he asked me if i got his email , i told him i wanted $850 , he said he would give me $750 cash right now , i stayed at $850 and never heard back from him ,no regrets ! , i then kept my asking price at $950 , alot of people were interested but most people dont have that kind of money so i kept my asking price but said i would possibly do a partial trade for a laptop , within a half a day a guy sent me a picture of his lap top and i looked up what it was worth (it cost about $1450 new and had to have a resale value at atleast $600 )
I told him i would trade if he gave me $480 + his laptop and he agreed .
In the end i could'nt believe how good the trade came out because i got a pretty good deal and he was equally happy!

well thats like i tried to sell my 96 Monte Carlo z34 which had new timing belt (biggest cause of failure) rebuilt top end, and about 400 dollars in other parts, and the only offers i got were for around 100-200 dollars, i paid more than that for one tire and they wanted the whole car for that, in the end i ended up getting the Astro that has 50k less miles and 300 dollars from someone who saw the for sale or trade sign in my window at a gas station

I just used craigslist today for a dehumidifier & it worked out great. I have had a lot of success on there as of late. Gotta take the good with the bad....kind of like when I'm at work!

Oh ya I found my three Vans on craigslist. Also found aluminum wheels, bug reflector, clear corner lenses, snow tires, and all of them I got for a smokin' deal. People have been hurting over the last couple years so anything laying around is for sale dirt cheap. Works about good cause I'm dirt cheap.

The thing I don't like is you email someone about a vehicle, and they never return an email, but then you check that listing again a few days later, and its been taking down probably cause the vehicles been sold to someone else.

from my experience its best to sell high money items between the end of jan and end of march. most people get their taxes back and feel its free money so they spend it as such. almost no negotiations. i made 900 a day 3 times a week for 2 weeks and twice the next for axles and tires. tried all year to sell them with the same add and same pictures and never got any real hits. maybe 50 bucks the rest of the year

I've had nothing but good luck with CL. Yeah, once in a while you run into a jerk but just move on and keep looking.

Last summer I sold my Dakota on CL. I had cash in hand 1 1/2 hours after I posted the listing. Sold my Corsica in January when nobody buys cars.

If you can watch listings closely you can jump on really good deals, either people need money bad, or they have something they just want gone. In the past 6 months or so I have got:

My Astro (too cheap to mention )
My 98 Buick, nice, for $800
Rims for the Astro, $150 ( ok deal)
Cobra rims and Michelin tires for the Buick, $150, ridiculously good deal
more I can't think of now...
