1998 Custom Astro Van

Postby meetthespeakers [OP] » July 18th 2016, 1:40pm

1998 Custom Astro 2wd/Rwd
105,000 Original Miles, 2nd Owner

I bought this van bone stock years ago from the original owner. I was looking for a low mileage Astro van to build my custom shop truck and family hauler. I stripped it all down inside and out, painted it Porsche Riveira Blue and Factory GM white two tone. Lowered it the right way with belltech drop spindles and rear flip kit with upgraded leaf springs. I then installed brand new black carpet and dyed most of the interior black. I modified the dash to fit a double din touch screen dvd player. The steering wheel is a beautiful Billet Specialties Unit. I just had the AC serviced 2 weeks ago and it is ice cold!
Asking $5500

Exterior:
- Custom Two Tone Paint, GM White with Porsche Riviera Blue, painted 2 years ago.
- Tinted Tail lights and front turn signals with VHT
- Shaved all badges
- HID 6000k Headlights
-Class 3/4 Hidden Hitch

Interior:
- Pair of 2005 Gray Leather Astro Front Seats, 1 Matching Leather Rear Bench Seat
- AAC Black Carpet
- Lincoln Navigator Black Leather Center Console
- Custom Kenwood Double Din Touch Screen Headunit, Blue Tooth Phone, DVD Player
- Billet Specialties Steering Wheel

Suspension/Wheels:
- Belltech Drop Spindles
- Rear flip kit with Heavy Duty 4 leaf pack springs, adjustable rear shackles
- Summit 15x7 wheels B.S. 3.75. 225/70R-15 General Altimax Tires
-New Front Calipers, and rotors installed early 2015 with fluid flush.

Engine/Drivetrain:
- Original 98 4.3 Vortec v6
- Full tune up, plugs, cap, rotor, coil, plug wires, crank sensor
-Rebuilt Rearend 20k miles ago * Have receipt
-AC just serviced and blowing ICE COLD!

EXTRAS NOT INSTALLED BUT INCLUDED:
- New Belltech 1" Lowering Springs with Belltech lowered shocks
- Journey Offroad adjustable front leaf purch, and adjustable rear shackle
- Stock steering wheel, misc stock interior, extra headlights, taillights, mirrors
- Extra set of stock springs, spring isolaters
-Full Mowog front steering, ball joints, etc new in box

Overall Condition:
I would drive this van cross country no problem. Just drove it to pick up a Classic Mini from Ohio a few weeks back (15 hour trip). While the car was painted 2 years ago it has a few paint chips that have been touched up. The drivers leather seat is slightly worn; the others are in very good shape. The logo on the door is vinyl and has since been removed.

Which one did ya like? I had a 98 Blue one (First one), 2000 Astro Harley Theme, 93 Astro Red/Silver bagged, and then the last one the 98 Blue/White.

I had my fun over the years, can't believe I have been doing Astro Vans for well over 10 years now, and had 6 in the family since 1986. I will sadly not be building another one. I need a break!

I bought a few months back a 2013 Ford Flex and have been playing with that. 22x10" Factory Edge Sport wheels, shaved/debadged, tinted, lowered. Just need to put a tow kit on it. If they do come out with a new astro SS option, I would be in the market later down the road. Until then, I'll be rocking the Flex.

My favorite was the 93 red/silver one. To me it just popped.

Har Har! I did cut my teeth on mustangs for 10 years. Outgrew them and obviously got into Mini's thanks to wife. But honestly, what new car can seat 7 that is newish, looks decent, and cost under $25k? Even though in the back of my mind I was always thinking, man if I dropped $10k into blue, it would be a badass STRO for sure! Would have done 5.7 swap, coilover suspension, better brakes.... sliding door on drivers side would be nice... just saying. I'll ride the Flex out until Chevy gets there **** together on putting out a new Astro. A manly van.

I'm with you, my bride just got a "new to her" car, 2013 Subaru Forrester w/ low miles. Out the door cost was 22k, I wanted to cry.
New car prices are a joke and they all look the same to me. Ford does have a couple that try to look different.
At least for awhile I can put coin into my Safari w/o complaints from the kitchen.
I didn't know the flex seats 7, buckets and a bench like the Astro?

Looks good, much better w/ the painted tailgate. That is what put me off the flex when I first saw one. I like the sunroofs too, do they all open?
