FS or trade for another van- 1991 Astro RS $800

This van is mechanically sound, and is suffering mostly from paint issues. The body I would say is in decent reasonably undented shape, there are a few small dents and scuffs and a few areas with some surface rust, but overall, this thing is surprisingly clean as far as rust is concerned. It was in the southwest for much of its life. It has about 130K on it

The biggest single body problem is the roof is delaminated paintwise, and was spray painted, and its showing some start of surface rust.
Also, there is a clicking noise at first start up which I am thinking is a lifter noise, goes away when the van is driven a bit. No smoke or hard starts, just an audible click which subsides as the engine gets warmer.

Essentially here's the story, I got this van as part of a package deal about 2 years ago, drove it around for a bit, sold it to my buddy, and hes thinking of moving, so he sold it back to me just recently. It runs pretty decent, I drive it fairly regularly now that its back in my hands, and it does fine on the highway, plenty of power and responsive.

Inside its complete and in decent shape, there are a few shocking coffee stains (going to try and clean up the carpet).

other issues are, the passenger window won't go down and the driver side rear door is missing the piece to stop it in place when open. Also it needs a blower motor switch.

Basically, heres the deal, this van needs a home. For myself, the PO (my friend), and the PO before that (who I got it off of), its just been a sitting extra vehicle, and it could really use an owner who will actually use it. Its at that level where it could go up or down, someone invests some time and some money, this could be a hell of a van.

I took this van back to use as a cargo van while my other one is having some major work done, but personally, id rather beat on something else. If anyone has a cargo or regular passenger astro they would like to trade straight up for, id be open to discussion.

these dam girlfriends, seriously. Mine just stopped me from flying to the midwest to pick up some ratty POS rusted out volvo I used to own when I was 15. She said something about it being "a waste of money and time over nonsense", and "trying to rekindle a relationship with an inanimate object that i already broke years ago" ect ect, the usual GF nonsense. I think "a fool and his money are soon parted" was in there too.

mine must be unusual then.

She is singularly frugal when it comes to expenditures, and will carefully weigh the pros and cons.

For instance, recently she was looking into a new car when she had some major repairs on her DD to do. After doing about 2 weeks of research, decided on a used subaru wagon (the version right before the current bloated model), then collected all the information on the deals in town, and did a comparative cost analysis on projected costs of retaining her 96 volvo wagon, and making payments on a used subaru with projected maintenance on that as well, and decided to keep the older car and dump a few grand into it.

This is even with me egging her on to buy the subaru.

van is sold. Went to a family of 5 who will actually use it. Feel good about the sale, owner was a pure chevy guy, and just had to have the van.
