02 astro awd transmission interchange

my 02 astro awd transmission went...wat years can i use to interchange...?
caused i use the local wreckers interchange system and it told me only any 02 astro,safari,jimmy or blazer would fit not 00 or 01...is this true cause the tranny used is the 4L60E in those years so why would'nt it fit...ty

In general, the rule is same year or newer. 4L60E designation was used from '93 up, but there were many changes in the operation and control of the transmission in those years. I haven't specifically looked, so I can't speak to your application, but the wreckers interchange is generally correct.
