94 Safari AWD 4l60e first time rebuild

94 Safari AWD 4l60e first time rebuild

Postby Bikley [OP] » May 4th 2020, 2:50am

I'm going to start with a box of parts and a plan.

It's going to be a little while before I can put a wrench to it because we have a Blazer to get running and a F(w)ord that needs to be tagged before I can take the van out of commission. In the meantime I'll inventory the parts and tools and post that next.

Ok it's been awhile but I've finally acquired all the parts and tools to proceed except the torque converter.

When I narrowed it down to the ATC Pro King GM35CW it said for ACCC only system but mine is a 94 and after searching ACCC, it didn't start until 96.

I would hate to put all this time and money in and burn it all up with the wrong torque converter because of a generic listing.

Not sure about your torque converter.

Have you watched these videos? A very detailed teardown & rebuild series ( it's long ) from Transmission Bench.

Good luck with the rebuild.

Those look really good, I was going to save them to my computer, but then I saw their channel did not have a playlist. But no problem, I found them, for some reason it is under a different set of names, but it appears this is the entire series you posted up:

Thanks. I actually bought my kit from Transmission Bench and it came with the videos on a thumb drive but I have watched them on YouTube. They are really good.

Ok, I found the correct torque converter. It's a Pro King #GM18A from Advance. The ones listed were wrong so I called Pro King tech support and they gave me the correct part number. Yay!

I just went through the same thing, I'm researching it now. GM35CW vs GM90.
Good luck with your rebuild.
