Lost Reverse & 2nd Gear, Ecode752=Shift Solenoid A stuck on

2001 Astro AWD: Reliable Transmission Repair man says if I lost Reverse and 2nd gear, then the sun shell gear broke apart. Says it can happen at any time with that tranny after 100K miles. Lots of hour involved with a AWD so its over a $2k fix. Later checked error code reading: P0752 which is about the Shift Solenoid ‘A’ Stuck On DTC.
Anybody think it could be something simple like a stuck solenoid valve ??
