tranny return line/cooler install

tranny return line/cooler install

Postby chris in b'ham [OP] » April 17th 2012, 5:17am

started my tranny cooler install today (2005 astro) and i come up against the fitting connecting the return line to the radiator. i have not seen this type of fitting before. what is the trick to it? the haynes manual is useless as usual in explaining it. i am installing the hayden rig and i bought the install kit with the new fittings.

thanks for any suggestions.

best to all, chris

There's a tiny retaining clip in the groove which keeps the line in the fitting on the radiator. Use a pick to work it out and the line just pulls out of the fitting. I prefer to replace the quick connect clips as they can distort, you can find them at the local auto parts place, like these: http://www.amazon.com/Dorman-800-801-Connector-Clips/dp/B000CIXMPK

Other than that the fittings just thread into the radiator.
