Transmission slipping 2-3 up shift and reverse

I have a 1994 Astro 4.3 4L60E auto w/164,000 miles. The transmission started slipping shifting from 2nd to 3rd and reverse just started slipping. Talked to the local transmission shop, who says the sun shell is going out. Guess it's a common problem with 4L60E and 700R4 transmissions. Has anbody had any experience with this type of problem?

my tranny slipps if i harshly kick it down and if i floor it from dead stop it moves but slips , i have 261k on it though iv ben told it could be a torque converter and or the clutch packs in the 3/4 but seeing as i have slippage in 1st also i think mine is tc, especially cause my fluid looks good, how often does it slip and under what circumstances , what does fluid look like?
