Helpful transfer case info for NV136 equipped AWD

Helpful transfer case info for NV136 equipped AWD

Postby ript43 [OP] » July 29th 2009, 2:19am

Hello Everyone,

I've been doing research on the shudder/crow hop thing that happens at low speed turns in parking lots and such with my '01 Astro AWD. Mine is equipped with the computer controlled New Venture 136 Transfer case. Here is a link to a very informative article relative to the the aforementioned problem. the link: http://www.rsgear.com/articles/2004_10.pdf

(it's a long article, but informative)

thought I'd pass this on

PS thank you Leeann_93 for setting me straight  :)

Only certain AWD models use the NV136. Mine, for instance, has a Borg Warner 4472 transfer case.

M/L Vans from 1990 (first year of AWD) to 1998 use the BW4472.

M/L Vans from 1999 to 2005 use the NV136.

BTW, most of the transfer case troubleshooting info presented is from the GM factory service manuals. They should be standard equipment for all Astro-Safari owners!
