odb code p 0753 shift A solenoid

it seems that I cannot pass emissions inspection with out changing the p 0753 shift A solenoid.
is this a diy job, or gonna cost $$$$$$. I also have a p 0751 stuck open reading.

could it mean the whole tranny is due for the scrapper?

It's not that hard.
Drop the pan, swap the solenoid, install the pan and top up fluid.
Total cost-$100.
Being covered in old trans fluid head to toe-priceless!

FYI, the solenoid is held in with a spring clip.

This weekend I changed the solenoid, filter, added synth blend fluid, and added a drain.
Cost about $100. the local shops wanted $250-$300.
pretty straitforward job, I would of taken pics but it has been raining here for days.

yes I got a " stickah " as they say in New England.
It shifts with conviction.
next I have some Michelin Light Truck Tires to put on.
then electric fan, after i finish the turn up.
Getting 8o miles per .25 tank.

Did the mpg for .5 tank, still getting 14 mpg combined.
Plugs, wires, fuel filter should be next.

That is better than mine. I get around 12-14 depending on how heavy my foot is.
