2003 transmission only?

2003 transmission only?

Went to the boneyard looking for a 4l60e supposedly 2003 only for an interchange on a rwd? Does this seem right? For those in the know if so why? :confused:

Was told the 2003 is the only transmission that will fit...pretty much thought they are almost all the same 2002-05 with the tow haul and even with that there is only a wiring issue (harness can be changed to make older ones work? While I know a 4x4 and I believe the. M30 version(one piece none removable bell housing) are different?

Perhaps they only made AWD models in the last two years? I don't know really...not much changed in the years they switched to the 6 lug versions from what I've read/seen.
A temporary fix usually becomes a permanent solution, therefore it does not exist.
