Battery Tray for 2000 Astro Van

Battery Tray for 2000 Astro Van

Postby Diablo_deth [OP] » April 30th 2021, 4:40pm

Hi
Need to replace the battery tray for a 2000 AWD Astro
I try to search online but was not able to find any aftermarket parts for it
Try the JY but most of those I found is in sad shape
I was able to find aftermarket battery tray for 2001 to 2005, will those fit my 2000 van or can I mod them to fit my VAN
or if anyone know how to DIY a battery tray for 2000 astro

thank you

link to old thread with good info :
:text-link: https://www.astrosafari.com/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=127402

here's some battery tray year compatibility info :
the part numbers are the same for 2WD & AWD.
same factory part number for 1996 thru 2000 :

same factory part number for 2001 thru 2005 :

the only difference that i am aware of between the two types of trays is the 2001 & up should have the newer style ECM/computer which is shaped differently & has a different hold-down clamp for the computer.
i believe the battery tray itself has the same shape & bolts in the same way for all these years.....

:2: a JY 96-00 tray cleaned up & repainted would be your best solution in my opinion...or figure out if you can remove the computer bracket from a 01-05 version & attach yours :2:

my reason for an interest in all of this is i'm planning on installing a 2002 ECM/computer in my '99 astro & have taken out a JY 2002 battery tray to use so i can clamp the newer computer in like the factory did - i haven't swapped over yet so i can't positively confirm the fitment, but from eyeballing the tray mounting between different years of JY astro/safari's (i took out the '02 bracket & walked over to an older model to compare) i'm fairly confident the newer tray will bolt right in.....
further confirmation is that the battery tray bolts to the inner fender, and the inner fender uses the same part number from 1995 thru 2005 :

inner fender is same from 1995-2005

If you do not find one I may have one in my parts in New Hampshire but I will not be there till the end of May/beginning of June 2021. Send me a pm in about a month if you still need one.

Nice that they have a replacement available, but damn is she pricey.
