changed starter,now alternator doesnt charge.

i changed my starter in a parking lot during a rainstorm laying in a puddle.they never seem to go bad on nice days. now the battery light is on and alternator isnt charging the battery. did i do something wrong? any advise?

You can start by checking continuity between the alternator + bolt and the battery + terminal. The fuse-able link might be toast.

my meter shows 1.4 megohm resistance.good? no good?

very not good... seems like you found your problem. If properly installed, expect to see less then 1 ohm. Ideally less then .5 ohms.

If all connectors and wires were new and installed correctly, resistance should be around .1 ohms.
