Help on wire connection

Help on wire connection

Postby mark1971 [OP] » September 2nd 2017, 4:10pm

Hi Guys, I'm a fan of American cars - just bought a 1994 GMC SAFARI (264000 miles) - It was running quite well for a while.. now I have a massive electrical problem! - Apparently I cut by mistake a wire ( :cry: ) - see attached picture. Now, every time I try to start the engine I get a fuse blow ... I'm not sure this is the reason .. .
Can you please help me to solve this issue?

Have a look at the wiring diagrams here: https://sites.google.com/site/astrosafa ... /fuel-pump

Orange = 12vdc constant from ECM B circuit(also leads back out from the relay to power the ECM/PCM and through the oil pressure switch).
Dark green/white = Fuel pump relay enable from ECM/PCM
Black/white = Ground
Grey = to fuel pump

It looks to me like the wire in your hand is black, but has been spliced towards the relay and is actually the grey wire from the relay. That wire should go to the fuel pump circuit, but once someone starts cutting and splicing wires all bets are off. If you are grounding that wire, then it should blow the ECM B fuse as soon as the ECM/PCM energizes the fuel pump relay.

Trolls take away from productive work, best to ignore them & go about your business.
